A new custom auto repair shop catering to delivery trucks and vans needed a progressive logo that would not only convey their business approach, their forward thinking and speedy service, but also would print well on paper and could easily be sown onto fabric.

Fringe Design worked directly with the client over the course of a few weeks to develop and conceptualize graphic ideas that would speak to their core audience. Over fifty sketches and designs were made over the course of the project, during which the client was able to view and make notes on each iteration; this fully collaborative approach to design ensured the final logo was absolutely everything the client wanted.

I’ve come to understand more about myself through playing online poker. For one, my playing style represents or reflects aspects of my personality, things I’ve known of myself in an unconscious manner for years, but which poker has almost forced me to think about in a very conscious way. For instance, I find I am very suspicious of large bets. In an arena where making a large bet has very little consequence (other than losing a lot of fake money) the ease to which one can commit a lot of money with very little in their hand makes me doubly suspicious, to the point where I will immediately fold if someone makes an outrageous bid right off the bat. Two things arise from this natural suspicion: I rarely bet big. Even with an extremely good hand I’ll bet in small, “believable” increments, ones that I feel I would be suckered by, if I were playing against me. This means I don’t usually win huge, even with overwhelmingly odds in my favor. Rare is the occasion that my winnings are more than three or four times what I’ve bet.

The second thing is that I am not a mathematician. As a result, I couldn’t care less about calculating odds, or even doing any reasonable prognosis on my hand versus my opponents versus what’s on the table. I have no grasp of number theory or the intricate dance of cards; my bets are nearly always and entirely based on my “gut.” This is a lousy way to play poker, but it seems right to me. This is also why I will never play online poker for real money. Because I’m only right about 33% of the time. That leaves an awful lot of room for error, and I’m just not that brave.

Wedbush Securities needed a comprehensive CMS solution to manage and maintain their public site presence, as well as a site that could integrate with their internal account management client application ClientLink. Building the CMS in Drupal gave Wedbush the security and flexibility they needed, while providing a suitable interface for their web team to promote their newly positioned brand as a customer-friendly securities and investment agency.

In addition to a fully functional public presence, Fringe Design also designed the look of their internal management software to mimic the public site, to make the customer transition into their account management login a seamless one.

Additionally, Fringe Design helped design management documents for maintaining the site at an optimal level, and consulted on security and privacy issues during the development phase.
