Fringe redesigned Washington DC journalist Greg Piper’s bi-coastal political blog to match the quirky name and feel of intimacy of the original site. Utilizing a backend Movable Type blog CMS, The Smoking Room offers comments, trackbacks, and of course Greg’s snarky charm.

Resolve Entertainment
Resolve Entertainment president Jeff Bartsch contacted Fringe Design for a ‘placeholder’ site for his newly formed company. Simple, clean, and easy were the requests. Fringe Design delivered a site within a day of the request, including an animated logo, which has become Resolve’s defacto brand representation.
Obtuse Software
When Obtuse Software asked Fringe Design to concoct a website to present the young company to the world (along with its brand new zigGIS software release, the challenge was simple: Be professional, be fun.
To avoid the usual corporate route, Fringe Design decided to use JQuery to render round corners on the fly, as well as a bold and bright color scheme to accentuate this new face and voice in GIS software world.
Conservatory for Coffee, Tea & Cocoa
Fringe Design was contracted by this popular family-owned coffee and tea spot in downtown Culver City to redesign their website and offer the ability to place orders online. Governed by a sense of place and time, the new design incorporates the exotic with an Americana flavour that invites and welcomes visitors—much like the cozy shop itself.
Thomas Jewett
Thomas Jewett needed a site to display his Director of Photography reel as well as his numerous documentary and high definition shorts. He also wanted to be able to display his photography. Fringe Design worked with Thomas to determine the look and feel of the site and executed it within a WordPress environment for maximum flexibility and maintenance options.
Peter Budevski
Director and Acting Teacher Peter Budevski needed a site to showcase his career and outline his new and upcoming school for acting training. Peter requested the site be fully interactive with a blog as well as easily updated pages. To ensure Peter would have full control over maintaining the site, Fringe Design designed around a WordPress framework, using a combination of custom PHP code and plugins to provide Peter with an appropriate forum for displaying his work and attracting new students.
Dana Slatkin
Working with Dana through thebrandingfarm, Fringe Design developed Dana’s site using the WordPress platform as a way for her to keep updated information about her events appearances as well as to maintain a blog centered around her business of kitchen and home lifestyles. The site features several customized solutions as well as integrated plugins and custom PHP solutions to meet her needs
Ground Zero
Ad agency Ground Zero wanted to rebuild its client portfolio site in the WordPress environment, utilizing custom solutions and plugins to achieve a seamless integration of images, videos, and flash. The site now displays rich media content using AJAX and PHP, delivering a clean and easy user experience that’s easy to navigate
Pinky Vodka
Ground Zero contracted Fringe Design to build the new Pinky Vodka site in WordPress, using custom code solutions and publicly available plugins. The new design not only supports video and image uploads, but Fringe Design utilized a unique internal posting system for Pinky administrators to post Drink Recipes and videos, a solution that can be adapted for any number of other blogs and post types
Bubble Genius
Bubble Genius started out as Dugshop, but were in the process of transitioning to a new business name, and they wanted a professional, lean website that would help them maintain their new branded image, as well as be the primary portal for all their online sales. Their needs were simple: make a site that could process credit card transactions in a fun and irreverent environment. After pitching Magento as the e-commerce solution to use, Fringe Design custom built the site from the ground up, integrating custom, unique features to give Bubble Genius a site that is robust, efficient, and fun.
Georgia Safe Routes to Schools
Georgia Department of Transportation wanted a revamp of their Safe Routes To Schools website, a site to provide detailed information for parents and school children, as well as enable administrators to have a unique and interactive way to interact with schools across the state. From the Safe Routes Partnership website, ‘Managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Georgia’s federally funded Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is the source for State SRTS Coordinator contact details, federal SRTS funding amounts, SRTS applications and guidelines, and state SRTS program information.’ Fringe Design provided backend coding for the site’s XHTML/CSS architecture, and worked directly with the site’s primary developer to achieve a fully interactive, cross-browser site that appeals to both parents and children alike.
Eclectic Little Birds
Eclectic Little Birds is a site I run with my wife and partner Emily Nettie Meredith. We wanted a site that could be used as a communication tool for our families, a wedding and project site, and to eventually showcase our various custom-made products and designs. It’s still in progress.
ELB runs on WordPress, with customized features and graphics to accommodate our eclectic little needs.
Cultural Imperialist
Cultural Imperialist is an online magazine devoted to what its editors (me and my friend and colleague Greg Piper) call “scathing spats on shallow subjects.” A constantly evolving site, CI features a dynamic archive, a growing selection of articles, and expressive and iconic graphics that appeal to the apparatchik and proletariat alike. Site was designed in Photoshop and runs on the latest WordPress build, and utilizes homespun jQuery, CSS, and custom PHP hooks for easy maintenance. It is continually being updated.
